The problem
Model a complex machine in CATIA V5 using both part and surface modelling, and assemble it so it moves like the real thing.

What I did
I built the excavator from several separate parts in CATIA V5, using both part modelling and surface modelling. The parts are assembled so the whole machine is fully movable, with hydraulic cylinders and parametric wheels.

A fully movable excavator assembly, finished with photorealistic renderings.
